400th Parkash Purab: India will pay a fitting tribute to the great Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, says PM Modi

The HLC was constituted by the Union Government on 24th October 2020, to approve policies, plans and programs related to the commemoration of the 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji along with supervision of the events.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India will pay a fitting tribute to the great Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji on his 400th Prakash Purab.

“We must take the entire Guru traditions along with Guru Tegh Bahadur’s life and lessons as part of these celebrations.Millions of Sikhs and us are walking the road shown by these Gurus,” said PM Modi.

“All of you’re aware of stages of his (Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur) life but it is important for the new generation of the nation too to know & understand it. From Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh – our Sikh Guru tradition is a philosophy of life in itself,” he said.

PM Modi also chaired a meeting of the High-Level Committee (HLC) to commemorate the 400th Birth Anniversary (Prakash Purab) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji through video conferencing.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also attend the meeting. In the  meeting they discussed the year-long calendar of events planned to mark this special occasion.

Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh was also present at the high level committee meeting.

About the High Level Committee

The HLC was constituted by the Union Government on 24th October 2020, to approve policies, plans and programs related to the commemoration of the 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji along with supervision of the events. The HLC has 70 members including the Prime Minister as Chairman.
