50 people allowed at weddings in Delhi, state government revises 200-limit to tackle Covid

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal earlier said that the Delhi government has sent a proposal to Lt Governor Anil Baijal to allow only 50 people to attend wedding ceremonies against the earlier limit of 200.

New Delhi: Delhi state government has revised 200-limit of people to attend a wedding. Now no more than 50 people will be allowed at weddings in Delhi.

Lt Gov Anil Baijal has given approval. This was essential as larger the crowd at a place, the more harmful it is. Lockdown won’t be imposed but people have to be stopped from gathering in large numbers, says Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on capping number of attendees at weddings in Delhi to 50.

The decision has been taken by the Delhi government in view of the rising cases in the national capital.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi stands at 4,95,598 including 42,004 active cases, 4,45,782 recoveries and 7,812 deaths.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain reiterated that there will be no lockdown in the national capital but said that there can be local restrictions at some busy places.

25-30% tests of outsiders caused spike in Delhi COVID-19 numbers, claims Satyendar Jain

On November 15, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting to review the coronavirus situation in the national capital. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had also participated in the meet at North Block.

Later, Shah announced several measures, including doubling of RT-PCR tests and strengthening medical infrastructure, to bring under control Delhi’s rising number of coronavirus cases.
