AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal, named in doctor suicide note, arrested by Delhi Police

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Prakash Jarwal was arrested by Delhi Police on Saturday, in connection with the suicide of a doctor in Durga Vihar area of South Delhi.

The arrest comes a day after non-bailable warrant was issued against him.

Jarwal and his associate Kapil Nagar were booked on charges of extortion and abetment to suicide after a doctor allegedly committed suicide on April 18. The MLA had claimed innocence

AAP MLA also moved an anticipatory bail in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court but the court has fixed hearing on May 11.

The 52-year-old doctor was found hanging at his home in South Delhi last month. He named the AAP leader in his suicide note, accusing him of harassment.

In a four-page suicide note, the doctor held AAP MLA and his associate Kapil Nagar responsible for his death, following which police registered a case at Neb Sarai Police Station against the MLA and others on charges of extortion and abetment to suicide.
