Arvind Kejriwal tears copies of farm laws in Delhi Assembly

Owing to ‘double standards’ in standing with farmers and then giving consent to ‘anti-farmer’ bill, Arvind Kejriwal has been accused of grandstanding and doing lip-service than lending support to farmers.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday tore a copy of the new farm laws in the Delhi Assembly to mark his protest against the contentious legislations.

Kejriwal tore the three farm laws during the session and appealed to the Centre to not become worst than the Britishers.

What Kejriwal said in Delhi Assembly’s special session

# Delhi Assembly today rejected all 3 Farm laws & have appealed Central govt that it should take back these black laws. More than 20 farmers have died during 20 days of protest. On average, one farmer is getting martyred daily in this movement: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal

# What was the hurry to get Farm Laws passed in Parliament during pandemic? It has happened for 1st time that 3 laws were passed without voting in Rajya Sabha…I hereby tear 3 Farm laws in this assembly & appeal Centre not to become worst than Britishers: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

# Every farmer has become Bhagat Singh. Govt is saying that they are reaching out to farmers & trying to explain the benefits of Farm Bills. UP CM told farmers that they’ll benefit from these bills as their land won’t be taken away. Is it a benefit?: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

AAP MLA tears copy of Centre’s farm laws, is it mere political posturing?

Stepping up its offensive against the Centre’s three farm laws, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA tore apart its copies in the Delhi Assembly.

The AAP government had called a special session of Delhi Assembly to discuss farmers agitation and also finding ways and means to allay their concerns.

“I refuse to accept these black laws, which are against farmers,” said AAP MLA Mahendra Goyal.

AAP has been vociferously protesting against the recently legislated farms claiming that it is anti-farmer and it will erode their means of livelihood rather than enhancing their living standards.

Days back, Arvind Kejriwal went to Singhu border to meet protesting farmers and express solidarity with them.

However, his own government notified one of three laws in the Assembly, thus giving an expression that it is firmly behind the law.

Owing to ‘double standards’ in standing with farmers and then giving consent to ‘anti-farmer’ bill, Arvind Kejriwal has been accused of grandstanding and doing lip-service than lending support to farmers.

Days back, BJP IT cell Amit Malviya ‘exposed’ AAP’s duplicity as he shared its Punjab poll manifesto in which the party promised to amend APMC act to facilitate increase in farmers income.

Now, as AAP MLA calls it a black law and tears it apart in the Assembly, political blamegame has begun with rivals slamming the AAP govt for trying to score political points over farmers protests.
