Pargat Singh is one of the MLAs that held a meeting to pressurise the CM for taking action against the perpatrators of sacrilege and police firing cases.

New Delhi: The crisis in Punjab Congress does not seem to come to an end anytime sooner. In a new development, Jalandhar Cantt. MLA Pargat Singh claims that he received a threat call from Capt. Sandeep Sandhu who is the political secretary to Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh. Pargat alleged that Sandhu threatened him with a police case due to his protest against CM Amarinder regarding the issue of sacrilege and police firing.

Pargat Singh addressed a press conference where he alleged that last week the political secretary said that he conveying the message of the Chief Minister and Pargat should be ready to face action. Singh said, “Being a former captain of the Indian hockey team, I was shocked to have got such a message. But if speaking truth on sacrilege and police firing cases was not acceptable to them, let them do whatever then want,” said the MLA.

Capt. Sandeep Sandhu have not given his reply to the allegations levelled against him by the Jalandhar Cantt. MLA. The Chief Minister’s office has also not responded yet. Pargat Singh is one of the MLAs and ministers that held a meeting to pressurise the Chief Minister for taking action against the perpetrators of sacrilege and police firing cases. The people in the meeting included ministers Sukhjinder Randhawa, Charanjit Channi, MP Partap Bajwa and MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu among others.

MLA Singh also alleged that other MLAs and ministers were also being arm-twisted as the senior advisor to CM, BIS Chahal was the de facto DGP of Vigilance. He said, “If Vigilance has to do something, it should take irrigation scam involving an XEN to its logical conclusion. But efforts are being made to save the big fish,” alleging that other cases were not being investigated by the Vigilance.

Pargat Singh said being a former hockey player, he always tried to work for the improvement of Punjab as a team, but discussing important issues is now being taken as a “rebellion”. MLA Singh said that no other option was left but to raise his voice while also saying that the party high command should take note of the issue.

Congress MP Partap Bajwa also commented on the recent developments in the state, he said, “Would have been pleasing to the eyes and ears of Punjabi’s had the Vigilance knocked at the doors of Badal’s for their acts of omission & commission from 2007- 2017 . Sudden spurt against Sidhu and colleagues is ill advised, ill timed & detrimental to interest of the Congress.”
