
Delhi: As the farmers protest at Delhi border enters 12th day, the protesting farmer Unions have called for Bharat Bandh on December 8. The farmer unions are set to observe all-India strike from 11 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday, to protest against government’s newly legislated farm laws.
Meanwhile, a delegation of 20 farmers from Haryana today met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and lent their support to the farm laws.

One of the farmers told Newsroompost.com on phone that they don’t want farm laws to be repealed as it is not entirely against their interests. However, the farmer said that amendments are welcome to safeguard their interests.
“MSP, contract farming and mandi system should be retained in the legislations as they will benefit the farmers,” he said.

Thousand of farmers are agitating at Delhi borders and are demanding rollback of legislations —
i) Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020,
ii) The Farmer (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price and Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and
iii) The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020
