New Delhi: Gauhar Chishti, the Ajmer Dargah Khadim, who was on the run after raising inflammatory slogans against Nupur Sharma was arrested in Hyderabad on Thursday. He was brought to Ajmer amid heavy police presence from Jaipur airport today and will soon be produced in court today.
The cleric had raised provocative slogans outside the famous Ajmer Dargah, a video of which created uproar.
Not just Gauhar Chisti, two other Khadims of the Dargah – Aadil Chisthi & Sarwar Chisthi had also raised provocative slogans against Nupur Sharma.
Gauhar Chishti raised the provocative slogans of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ outside the Ajmer dargah on June 17. Soon after, he left Ajmer and has been absconding since June 23.

Cleric Gauhar Chisti is said to be a relative of two butchers of Udaipur, Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Ghouse, who killed tailor Kanhaiya Lal in cold blood at his shop in a busy commercial area.
Chisthi’s alleged links with Pak based radical outfit Dawat-e-Islami has also come to light in the NIA probe of Kanhaiya Lal murder case. Reports suggest that he was in regular touch with some people from this outfit.

Meanwhile, the businesses surrounding Ajmer Dargah is understood to have taken a hit and seen reduced footfalls in last few days after the clerics raised slogans. The local vendors & hotels around the shrine are witnessing reduced business.
Sarwar Chishti, another cleric and secretary of the Anjuman Committee, recently warned of a movement that would “shake India”. He also warned that if Prophet Mohammad is insulted, Muslims will launch a movement that would jolt India.
Earlier, Salman Chisti gave death threats to Nupur
Days ago, a cleric of Ajmer Dargah named Salman Chisti gave death threats to Nupur Sharma for derogatory comments against Prophet and also announced a bounty on her head. In the video that landed him in jail, he could be heard saying that he will give his house & property to someone who would behead Sharma.
