The temple priest succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night after he was allegedly burnt alive by some people during a scuffle over encroachment of temple land at Bukna village in Sapotra, Karauli district.

"As per the data of the National Crime Records Bureau, Rajasthan stands at the first position as far as crimes against women are concerned. I urge Rahul Gandhi, who indulges in political tourism to BJP-ruled states, to pay attention to Rajasthan," said Rajyavardhan Rathore.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for immediate action in the case.

The project will provide enhanced support to women and vulnerable groups through skills training, paid internships, and community engagement and awareness activities.

The application process was scheduled to begin from March 30, 2020, and conclude on April 27, 2020, which was later postponed owing to the coronavirus lockdown.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the next of the kin of the people who died in the incident.

According to the official, three people are missing and rescue operation by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams is underway.
