Akhilesh Yadav suspends 5 SP workers for hooliganism at PM Modi’s rally, arrested

5 suspended SP leaders have been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police for creating ruckus near Prime Minister’s rally in the city. The case was lodged by Kanpur police after a viral video showed red cap wearing Samajwadi Party workers ransacking the parked vehicle.

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday suspended 5 party leaders for indulging in hooliganism and vandalism near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Kanpur.

While PM Modi was addressing the gathering, group of SP workers ran amok on the streets to vitiate the atmosphere. They burnt Narendra Modi’s effigy and also vandalised a car parked nearby.

“On instruction of SP national president Akhilesh Yadav, Sachin Kesharwani, Ankur Patel, Ankesh Yadav, Sukant Sharma and Susheel Rajput are being suspended from the party for their alleged involvement in yesterday’s incident in Kanpur,” an official statement said.

The five accused party workers are Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade spokesperson Sukant Sharma, National Secretary of the SP students’ body Sachin Kesharwani, city secretary of the youth brigade Abhishek Rawat, and Nitesh Kumar.

5 SP workers arrested for rowdy act

Five suspended SP leaders have been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police for creating ruckus near Prime Minister’s rally in the city. The case was lodged by Kanpur police after a viral video showed red cap wearing Samajwadi Party workers ransacking the parked vehicle.

Slamming the SP for riotous act during PM Modi’s rally, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “There was a BJP car in that video, some lotus (symbol of BJP) stickers were put on it and a poster of the Prime Minister was also put on the back of the car. Later, an investigation was done by police and it was found that this car was also not of BJP worker but of Ankur Patel, another leader of SP Chhatra Sabha. This car was decorated as a BJP car.”

VIDEO of SP workers vandalising car sparked row

The video of SP workers running amok on the streets and setting the car ablaze went viral. Burning of Prime Minister’s effigy on the roadside and vandalising incident invited police action.

The car also had a poster of Prime Minister pasted on the back of it.
