New Delhi: An E-Shram card is an initiative started by the Government of India to help workers of the unorganized sectors. The main purpose of the government in making an E-Shram card is to generate awareness among the employees of the unorganized sector and to create a database for them so that they can take advantage of the scheme and the programmes introduced by the government for the development of these workers across the country. Many workers in the unorganized sector are not aware of the schemes being launched by the government in order to provide them basic facilities.

Advantages of E-Shram Card

Workers working in unorganized sectors can benefit from the E-Sharm card during a family emergency, they can receive a pension amount after 60 years, death insurance, and financial assistance in case of an emergency. The government is also planning to link the E-Shram card with the Ration card so that the workers can benefit from all the government schemes and other sponsored programs.

All workers will get financial assistance from Rs 500 to 1000 per month.

The E-shram worker will not only get cashless assistance but will also receive funds for buying children’s bicycle, sewing machine and other tools.

Apart from this, the E-Shram worker will receive death insurance of Rs 2 lakh and one lakh rupee cash in times of an emergency.

Eligibility Criteria for E-Shram Card

The age of the worker must be between 16-59 years

Taxpayers will not be accepted

Workers who are registered with EPFO and ESIC are not eligible

Workers must belong to the unorganized sector

Steps to register for E-Shram Card offline

The workers can submit their application forms on Common Service Center and E-Shram site

Interested candidate must check his state and the eligibility criteria if they wish to apply for the E-Shram card. The candidates can then visit the nearby Common Service Center and apply for the card.

Steps to register for an E-Shram card online

Visit the page https://register.eshram.gov.in/#/user/self

After entering your registered mobile number and the captcha code click on send otp and then press on validate

once you receive the otp click on the verify button

Cross check your details in preview and then submit

You’ll be able to see the E-Shram card on your screen
