New Delhi: At the 53rd edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the jury head Nadav Lapid sparked off a major row by making controversial remarks on ‘The Kashmir Files’, a recently released movie that turned out be a big grosser in India as well as abroad.
The Israeli filmmaker’s remarks triggered a wave of anger among the filmmakers and also scores of people who believe that the movie brought to fore the hidden truth of targeted attack on Hindus in the valley, for many decades.
The IFFI jury head Nadav Lapid dubbed Kashmir Files as ‘vulgar & propaganda’ setting film. This elicited scores of reactions from protagonists of the film and also received strong backlash on social media platforms. Anupam Kher said this was pre-planned & even said that it was part of a toolkit while Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri posted a cryptic tweet.

While the riled up netizens are slamming IFFI jury head over his ‘careless’ statement, Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker today came out in support of the cornered Israeli filmmaker.
She backed Lapid’s statement and tweeted, “Apparently it’s pretty clear to the world ..”

Her open endorsement of IFFI jury further enraged the film’s supporters who are already up in arms over his condemnation of the ‘truth-setting’ film.
