Amid border skirmish with India, Nepal clears new map to include 3 disputed territories as its own

The Nepal lawmakers passed the amendment bill to update the country’s new map which will include these 3 areas, on which India claims its right.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing controversy over 3 disputed regions of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura, the Nepal Parliament on Saturday voted on the new map.

According to reports, the bill was passed in Nepal’s Lower House with overwhelming majority of 258 votes out of 275 members, no votes were cast against the bill. Now that it has been passed, it will be sent to the Upper house, the National Assembly, where it is set to undergo a similar process.

With the passage of this Constitutional amendment bill, the issue is likely to become permanent irritant in India-Pakistan ties and will further put strain in the ties between both nations.

1 killing in firing by Nepal police near border in Bihar

Just a day ago, India-Nepal border witnessed a flare up with Nepali policemen firing shots at locals. Firing by Nepal police led to death of 1 person while 2 others were injured.
