New Delhi: The Indian Army has brought in some crucial changes in the recruitment procedure for ‘Agniveers’, under which the prospective candidates/jawans will have to undertake an entrance examination first. What is existing procedure?

In first year of Agniveer recruitment, the Army had conducted physical and medical examination first and then it was followed by a written test.

The Indian Army recruited first batch of soldiers & jawans under the Agniveer program in 2022. Though, the launch of Agniveer program got mired in controversy, with protests breaking out in some parts of the country, the Armed Forces did recruit ‘Agniveers’ from across the country after screening & tests.

A merit list will be released, which will include the shortlisted candidates. They will be called for medical & physical screening. If the candidate clears physical test, he will undertake medical tests.

Last year, at least 40,000 Agniveers were recruited by Army. They are currently undergoing training at various centres. After 4 years of rigorous training, they will be posting at border areas. This year also, the govt has earmarked 40,000 seats for Agniveers.

As the Agniveer selection goes digital, an Online Common Entrance Exam (CEE) will be held in April 2023 at more than 200 locations across the country.
