‘As desired by Cong Prez’: Sidhu’s terse reply in 1 line resignation; Lallu & Godiyal quit too

New Delhi: A day after the brainstorming session at Congress’ top decision-making body over severe drubbing in 5 states, it’s time for stepping down of party presidents.

From UP to Punjab & Uttarakhand, Congress chief of these states have stepped down, following the directive of party president Sonia Gandhi.
Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday tendered his resignation on a terse note and wrote just a line, ‘As desired by the party president, I have sent my resignation.’

The Punjab PCC president took to Twitter to share his resignation letter, further highlighting the bitter equation between him and the high command.
Sonia Gandhi had asked the state unit chiefs of UP, Uttarakhand, Goa, Manipur & Punjab to tender their resignation over poll debacle. In Punjab, Congress stood a chance and was expected to be major contender in the race but it performed miserably as against AAP’s stupendous show.

UP Congress chief Ajay Lallu tendered his resignation last night taking moral responsibility for poll defeat.

UP chief Ajay Lallu lost his seat Tamkuhi Raj to BJP’s Asim Kumar, after holding it for 10 years.


Uttarakhand Cong chief wrote, “Despite your support and calibrated effort of state unit, we lost the polls, I take the responsibility & submit my resignation.”

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) held on Sunday also received flak from top leaders of the party who call out the sycophants for poor show. But, the family loyalists put their foot down and blamed infighting in state units for the loss.
