Assam to move SC over border dispute with Mizoram, says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday informed that six jawans of Assam Police have lost their lives while defending the constitutional boundary of state at the Assam-Mizoram border.

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the state will move to SC for protection of Innerline Forest following border strife with Mizoram over encroachment.

“I called Mizoram CM six times when firing was taking place (at Assam-Mizoram border yesterday). He said ‘sorry’ & invited me for talks in Aizawl. No one can take even an inch of our land. We’re committed to securing our territory. Police are on the border,”he said.

“Not an inch of Assam land encroached by Mizoram; people sacrificed their lives but protected boundary,”he said.

“When I took charge, I wrote to Mizoram CM seeking an early resolution of border dispute … When talks were on, #Mizoram police started firing which resulted in casualties,”said Assam CM.
