At India Energy week, PM Modi gets Lionel Messi jersey as gift from Argentina’s YPF president

Prime Minister was in Karnataka today to inaugurate the India Energy week 2023. In his inaugural address, PM Modi elucidated India’s phenomenal projected growth in energy demand, stable and decisive leadership and sustained reforms.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a jersey of football legend Lionel Messi, as a special gift from Pablo Gonzalez, the president of Argentina’s state-owned company YPF, on Monday.

YPF president handed over Messi jersey to PM Modi, after latter’s address at the India Energy week in Bengaluru.


External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also shared a photo on Twitter, in which Argentinian Science & Technology Daniel Filmus could be seen greeting the former with Messi jersey.


Prime Minister was in Karnataka today to inaugurate the India Energy week 2023. In his inaugural address, PM Modi elucidated India’s phenomenal projected growth in energy demand, stable and decisive leadership and sustained reforms to invite global investors in country’s focus on new energy, including green hydrogen.

PM Modi said that India is projected to witness fastest growth in energy demand in the next decade.

“I ask you to explore all opportunities connected with India’s energy sector. India is the most opportune place for investment today,” PM Modi said at the event, being attended by ministers of different nations.

He said that even as world battles tough times and braces for more crisis, India remains the bright spot in the world.

“The number of Broadband users in India has become 13 times more than it was 9 years ago, and the number of internet connections has tripled in the same period,” PM Modi said.

Reports said that Argentina expressed strong support for India’s bid to Membership of the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group (NSG).
