New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) killed gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad in an encounter in Jhansi on Thursday. Along with him, his associate Ghulam was also gunned down in the encounter.

When the news of Asad’s encounter reached mafia Atiq Ahmed, about to appear in Prayagraj court over alleged involvement in Umesh Pal murder case, the mafia broke down in tears.

A news portal reported that those present in court besides him, said that the gangster cries copiously on hearing the news of his son’s death. His brother Ashraf was also shocked beyond belief upon hearing the news.

Asad & Ghulam, both were absconding after the day-light murder of Umesh Pal in Prayagraj. Both carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their head.

While they were killed in police encounter in Jhansi today, some sophisticated weapons have also been recovered from their custody.

Speaking on the encounter, UP STF chief Amitabh Yash told media persons that attempt was made to catch Asad & Ghulam alive but they started firing at the cops and hence the STF had no option but to retaliate their attack.

Umesh Pal killed on February 24

Umesh Pal, a key witness in the Rajupal murder case, was killed in broad daylight by a group of gangsters in Prayagraj on February 24, apparently at the behest of Atiq Ahmed.

Umesh Pal’s car was cornered by attackers and bombs hurled at him, leading to his death & also his two gunners. The whole incident caught on CCTV footage gave much ammunition to the opposition parties to tear into Yogi govt for creaking law & order situation in the state.

Meanwhile, Ghulam’s family has disowned him and told newsmen that they wouldn’t take custody of his body. They say that Ghulam brought disgrace & disrepute to the family & hence they don’t want to keep any ties with him, even after his death.
