Uttarakhand: Chamoli Police said that the Rishiganga Power Project has been damaged due breach of a glacier in Tapovan area.
People living on the bank of Alaknanda river are advised to move to safe places at the earliest.
According to reports, many people have been swept away. The administration has reached the occasion.
Relief and rescue work is in progress. The water level in the Dhauliganga River has risen after a sudden avalanche near a power project at Reni village in the Tapovan area of Chamoli city.
All the concerned districts have been alerted in the wake of incident. Officers and employees of Chamoli District Administration and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have reached the spot. A warning has been issued for people to avoid going to the banks of the Ganga river. People living on the banks of Alaknanda river are advised to move to safe places at the earliest.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that two teams of ITBP have reached the spot and three NDRF teams have been rushed from Dehradun.
