Notably, BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in New Jersey is the largest Hindu temple in America and also outside India.
This is first winter season of the Swaminarayan temple after its inauguration. Though, the construction of temple began in 2015, it met with some obstacles and opened to public only in 2023.
The thick snowcover inside & outside the temple premises has made it a ‘must-visit destination’ for local pilgrims. As various regions of US get snowed in, the grand temple can be seen covered in white blanket of snow. The temple is looking more resplendent & magnificent and is also drawing many comments from netizens, awe-struck by its beauty & charm.
The magnificent Hindu temple dedicated to the 19th century spiritual leader Lord Swaminarayan was inaugurated in New Jersey’s Robbinsville on October 5, 2023. Its inauguration, in presence of Mahant Swami Maharaj & scores of distinguished spiritual gurus & guests made global headlines. The ‘pran pratistha’ & other rituals of the temple were conducted by Swami Maharaj ji.
New Jersey’s Swaminaryan temple has been constructed by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). The spiritual body has the distinction of constructing 3 colossal Akshardhams across the world including one in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar & other in Delhi. It also oversees about 1,000 Hindu temples across the world.
For the unversed, the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardhams are landmarks of Hindu art & architecture and are open to people of all faiths & backgrounds.
New Jersey’s Akshardham temple has been raised over sprawling 183 acres of land. It boasts of over 10,000 statues in the complex and vividly depicts Indian culture & civilization. It was reportedly built by voluntary contribution of over 12,500 volunteers – including men, women & children, who took recess from this jobs & studies and took part in constructing the temple.
