BBC means ‘Bhrasht Bakwas Corporation’, says BJP amid ‘tax survey’ on its offices

BJP spokesperson also tore into Congress party & Opposition for taking recourse in ‘foreign conspiracy’ to target own government.

New Delhi: Hours after Income Tax officials conducted tax related surveys on British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s Delhi & BJP offices, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) described the UK national broadcaster as ‘Bhrasht Bakwas Corporation’. The BBC offices in Delhi & Mumbai have been reportedly sealed after I-T searches on account of alleged financial misappropriation & tax evasion.

Addressing a press conference on I-T survey, the BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that BBC is the “most corrupt organisation”.

“BBC is ‘Bhrasht Bhakwaas Corporation’ (corrupt, rubbish, corporation),” he said.

The I-T surveys on BBC’s offices, which comes days after its documentary series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alleged links to 2002 riots, prompted the Opposition to take potshots at the Centre & BJP. It described the ‘crackdown’ on BBC offices as ‘signs of panic’ in the BJP-led govt.

BJP spokesperson also tore into Congress party & Opposition for taking recourse in ‘foreign conspiracy’ to target own government.

BJP spokesperson said that it was BBC’s propaganda & Congress’s agenda that the two have joined hands for mudslinging on Modi government.

Coming down hard on the UK broadcaster, Bhatia said that BBC must refrain from propagating its ‘anti-India propaganda’ and stop ‘spewing venom’.

“The BBC indulges in anti-India propaganda. India is a country which gives an opportunity to every organisation… as long as you don’t spew venom,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh slammed the Centre with a satirical Hindi idiom, ‘Vipaksha Kaale, Viprit Buddhi’ (When doom approaches, person loses his wisdom).

Hitting back at Congress, Bhatia said that the grand old party should look within before training guns at us.

Congress should remember that former PM Indira Gandhi had banned the BBC,” he told reporters.

Meanwhile, the I-T officials are examining the alleged financial irregularities & tax evasion in the British broadcaster’s operations.
