
New Delhi: Bengaluru police on Sunday arrested two youths for harassing and torturing two bank employees, from different religions. The incident took place on Saturday when a 35-year-old burqa wearing woman was riding with her male colleague, who was dropping her home as she had got late at work.
As the duo was riding on bike at around 9.20 pm, a group of miscreants started following them and stopped them mid-way.
The two accused started questioning them as to why the woman, who belonged to Muslim community and wearing a burqa, was riding with a Hindu man. Both the accused were apparently from the Muslim community and started ranting that their religion doesn’t allow such bond.
The Muslim youths forced the woman to call her husband and complained to him about her riding with a Hindu man. Her husband who already knew replied that he was aware of it and knew her colleague as well.
Though her family did not had any objections to her travelling with her co-worker, the women was still forced to get off the bike by the accused. The miscreants got her to book an auto for herself to get home. After the woman left, the bank official was abused and assaulted by the two accused.
The incident took place amidst hefty traffic, and the video of the incident was widely circulated on social media. Netizens expressed outrage over such incident taking place in the IT Capital Bengaluru.

Action against miscreants:
The victim lodged a complaint with the police in the matter, to which the police took immediate action. The police traced the phone numbers of the accused and collected the CCTV footage from nearby places of the incident.
Acting swiftly, @BlrCityPolice has identified and secured two accused persons for assault on a bike rider traveling along with a woman of a different faith.
A case is registered and firm legal action is initiated.

The accused, 24 and 26 years respectively, have been arrested and are now in police custody.
