New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj KS Eshwarappa on Wednesday(Feb 9) claimed that ‘Bhagwa dhwaj‘ (saffron flag), may become the national flag some time in the future.
Eshwarappa said that “Hundreds of years ago the chariots of Sri Ramachandra and Maruthi had saffron flags on them. Was the tricolour flag there in our country then? Now it (tricolour) is fixed as our national flag, what respect it has to be given, should be given by every person who takes food in this country, there is no question about it.”
Not today but someday in future after 100, 200, or 500 years the saffron flag may become the national flag. Taking a jab on Congress leader he said that “They lied that tricolour was replaced with Saffron flag, we will hoist the saffron flag today or tomo when the Hindu dharma comes, but now tricolour is national flag & we respect it”

Earlier, Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar in his series of Tweet had alleged that students hoisted saffron flag by replacing the tricolour at the Government First Grade College in Shivamogga, during an anti-hijab protest on Tuesday.
“The situation in some Karnataka educational institutions has gone so out of hand that in one case, the National flag was replaced by a saffron flag. I think the affected institutions should be closed for a week to restore law and order. Teaching can continue online,” he tweeted.
