Bihar: JD(U) MLA Gopal Mandal flaunts gun at hospital, draws flak; VIDEO surfaces

New Delhi: In the much-touted Bihar’s good governance under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a JD (U) MLA created a big stir on Tuesday, when he visited a government hospital while brazenly flaunting a revolver in his hand.

Gopal Mandal, a JD (U) legislator from Gopalpur, went to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical college & hospital in Bhagalpur and was seen openly carrying a revolver in his hand.

The gun-toting MLA, when asked by security staff about gun in his arms, reportedly said that it was his style. “Haath mein lekar nahin challenge toh kya kamar mein rakhenge,” he said.

The JD (U) legislator drunk on power had gone to hospital for the CT scan of his grand-daughter. The hospital is visited by hundreds of patients daily but the gun-toting MLA created a big commotion inside the hospital.

MLA cited poor law & order for carrying gun

The legislator later also replied later, when questioned about his brazen conduct and open brandishing of firearm. He sought to pin the blame on poor law & order situation in the state and informed that it was a licensed revolver and he had the necessary papers for it.

His weird claim has given Opposition fresh ammo to attack the Nitish dispensation. Nitish government has long portrayed itself as ‘messiah of the poor & downtrodden’ and repeatedly said that criminal & crime activities were relegated to bottom under his governance.

However, the open admission by JD (U) MLA deflates the tall claims of Nitish government and raises many questions about safety & security of common residents, besides elected representatives.
