Bihar: Patna police lathi-charges TET and CTET aspirants demanding early recruitments

Just a day before the commencement of the winter session in Bihar’s Parliament, the aspirants qualified for the Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test (CTET) and Bihar Teacher’s Eligibility Test (BTET) held a protest at Patna Junction.

New Delhi: Just a day before the commencement of the winter session in Bihar’s Parliament, the aspirants qualified for the Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test (CTET) and Bihar Teacher’s Eligibility Test (BTET) held a protest at Patna Junction. Notably, the aspirants organised a protest against the state government demanding early recruitment. However, their plan to reach Vidhan Sabha was ruined after the Police launched a heavy lathi charge on them at Bangla Chowk for dispersing.

Protesters were beaten brutally by the policemen and the video of the incident is also available to watch below here:

The teacher-aspirants were demanding the release of the reinstatement notification of the 7th phase. They said that the Bihar Education department every time gives assurance but it has not solved their problem so far.

A week ago, Bihar’s CM Nitish Kumar’s address for the by-constituency elections in Kulhani, Muzzafnagar was interrupted by the protesting CTET and BTET aspirants. The teacher aspirants raised slogans against the delaying of the reinstatement notification which led to a violent crash between Nitish’s supporters and the protesters. Both sides threw plastic chairs at each other. Eventually, the teaching aspirants were forced out of the rally by the party workers.

The CTET is a pan-India exam that qualifies the candidate for the competitive exams for the post of teaching in government schools.

Patna Protest

Back in August 22 this year, the Additional District Magistrate of Patna, KK Singh was removed from his post for beating a protesting teacher aspirant with a lathi. The video made rounds on the internet, gathering critical responses towards the state’s government.
