New Delhi: BJP lawmaker Rajiv Pratap Rudy is all set to get Z category security. His security cover has been upgraded and now the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will be deployed on duty.
Rajiv Pratap Rudy is a seasoned BJP leader with 4 Lok Sabha and 1 Rajya Sabha terms. He also held ministerial berth in Atal Bihar Vajpyee-led NDA government.
As per standard protocol, the noted leaders, judges and personalities are given state protection in correspondence with the threat perception to them.

Currently, security cover is categorized under 5 heads – Z+, Z, Y+, Y, X.
Z+ category is highest range of security. Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress president Sonia Gandhi alongwith Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi enjoy this protection cover.
In 2019, Rudy’s security was downgraded along with many other leaders.
After reviewing security arrangements of ‘central protectees’, Home Ministry had downgraded security of several leaders including Lalu Yadav and Pappu Yadav.
