Addressing mediapersons after submitting report to the party, BJP vice-president Arvind Limbavali said it was a “well-organised” violence and not an “accidental event”, also social media was used extensively for the same.

New Delhi: An fact-finding committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka unit has held Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) responsible of ‘organizing and fanning’ violence on Bengaluru streets on August 11.

The violence engulfed a part of the city over some objectionable Facebook post and saw many public properties destroyed and vehicles torched. The perpetrators also didn’t spare Congress MLA residence and 2 police stations as a heavy mob of hooligans set them on fire.

The six-member panel, led by Mahadevapura MLA and BJP state vice president Aravind Limbavali submitted its report to the state unit chief Nalin Kumar Kateel on Wednesday and found SDPI as key plotter of violence, in its report. The group is the political arm of Popular Front of India (PFI), a radical Muslim outfit.

“A Taliban-like situation prevails in DJ Halli and KG Halli. Efficient officers should be deputed by BBMP and the police for the area,” Limbavali demanded.

State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, commenting on the report, said that the riots were a result of leadership crisis within the Congress.

“Intelligence failure is not the cause for the riot. The Congress is,” he said.

Mr Limbavali also wondererd as to why leaders of Congress party did not come forward to support the party MLA R Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy whose house came under direct attack of rioters.

Days back, the National Investigation Agency which took over probe into Bengaluru violence, also named SDPI’s district secretary Muzammil Pasha for instigating mob in the city.

The case was earlier being handled by an investigation team set up by the Bengaluru police.
