Blow to Mamata: Pawan Verma, TMC’s national vice-president, quits party

Pawan Verma’s departure from the party comes at a time when Trinamool Congress has been beset with lot of challenges.

New Delhi: In yet another blow to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, party’s national vice president Pawan Verma announced his resignation from the party on Friday,

Pawan Verma’s exit from TMC comes as a big shock for the party as he not only led the party’s war room strategy but also strongly put forward party’s standing on national issues.

Taking to Twitter, Pawan Verma thanked Mamata & the partymen for love & affected in the party and also hoped to stay in touch.

Pawan Verma’s departure from the party comes at a time when Trinamool Congress has been beset with lot of challenges. Top leaders of the party & couple of Mamata’s close aides are facing investigation by the investigative agencies including CBI & ED, over corruption & embezzlement of funds.

Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee is facing ED probe while Party’s no 2 Partha Chatterjee is in ED custody over role in multi-crore school jobs scam. Another TMC heavyweight and staunch Mamata supporter Anubrata Mondal has been caught by agencies for alleged role in cow smuggling.

Pawan Verma had joined Mamata-led TMC after quitting Janata Dal (United), over his differences with Nitish Kumar. Verma got miffed with JD(U) warming up to BJP and giving in to saffron party’s polarized campaign.
