Brazilian President Bolsonaro be the Chief Guest at India’s 71st Republic Day Parade

For Republic Day Parade 2020, a total of 56 tableaux proposals (32 from states/UTs and 24 from Ministries/Departments) were received. Out of these, 22 were shortlisted for participation in the Republic Day Parade 2020 after a series of five meetings.

New Delhi: President of Brazil Jair Messias Bolsonaro will be on a state visit to India from 24-27 January 2020 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President Bolsonaro will be the Chief Guest at India’s 71st Republic Day Parade on 26 January.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his bilateral meeting with Jair Bolsonaro on the sidelines of 11th BRICS summit , extended an invitation for the Brazilian President to attend India’s Republic Day ceremony.

Republic Day Celebration

Tableaux from Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Telangana are among the states that have been shortlisted for this year’s Republic Day Parade 2020.

Besides these states, Defence Ministry’s list of shortlisted participants also includes states of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
