Building ‘Naya Kashmir’: Inside details of J&K all-party meet with PM Modi

While addressing all party leaders including Gupkar Alliance, PM Modi underlined the need for elections and taking the valley on path to prosperity.PM said we are fully committed to the democratic process in J&K.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s all-party meeting with Jammu and Kashmir leaders concluded after more than 3 hours of due deliberations.

This is Centre’s first outreach to Jammu and Kashmir’s political leadership in almost two years, after the abrogation of Article 370 and ending special status of the province.

Gupkar Alliance falls in line

Gupkar Alliance which was earlier giving twist to the all-party meet and wanted the Centre to address grievances regarding revoking special status, welcomed the Centre’s agenda and blueprint for valley’s future.

One of the leaders, after meeting got over, told reporters that delimitation was discussed at the meeting and also roadmap for state elections was deliberated upon.

PM Modi’s emphatic message for all

Prime Minister patiently heard all the suggestions by all parties and exhorted all participants to share their views frankly & honestly.

While addressing them, PM Modi underlined the need for elections and taking the valley on path to prosperity.
PM said we are fully committed to the democratic process in J&K. He stressed that the holding assembly elections just like the successful conduct of DDC elections is a priority.

It was discussed that elections can happen soon after delimitation. Most of the participants including the Gupkar alliance expressed willingness for it.

PM emphasised the need to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level.

# Even 1 death in J&K is painful and it is our collective duty to protect our younger generation
# We need to give opportunities to our youth of J&K and they will give back lots to our country.
# There would be political differences but everyone should work in national interest so that the people of J&K benefit.
# An atmosphere of safety and security needs to be ensured for all sections of society in J&K.
# Dilli ki Duri as well as Dil Ki Duri must be removed
