Bumper hike for Delhi MLAs, remuneration hiked from Rs 54 K to 90K per month

Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal informed that the last time the salary of MLAs was increased in the year 2011

New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the resolution of the Delhi Assembly, in which it was recommended to increase the salary of MLAs after 11 years.

Earlier in the year 2015, the Delhi government had sent a proposal to increase the salary to the Center but it was not approved. However, the proposal sent again on the suggestion of the Center has now been approved.

The MLAs of Delhi will now get 20 thousand rupees every month instead of 12 thousand as a basic salary. Apart from the salary of MLAs, other allowances have also increased. Including salary and all allowances, now the MLAs of Delhi will get 90 thousand rupees every month, which was 54 thousand rupees till now.

Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal informed that the last time the salary of MLAs was increased in the year 2011. But after 11 years such a low salary increase is not appropriate.
