By-election results LIVE: NDA leads in Assam & MP, Cong in Rajasthan & Himachal; TMC in Bengal

As per initial trends, the BJP-led NDA has taken pole position in Assam. The saffron alliance has taken lead on all 5 assembly seats that went to by-polls on October 30.

New Delhi: Counting of votes are underway for 3 Lok Sabha seats & 29 Assembly constituencies across 13 states & Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Trends show mixed results as Congress has managed to do well in Rajasthan despite faction-ridden party unit and is also making advances in Himachal. BJP has taken pole position in Assam & Madhya Pradesh.

The 3 Parliamentary constituencies that went to hustings on October 30 were UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, 1 each in Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

A turnout of 50 per cent to 80 per cent was recorded during voting in three Lok Sabha and 29 Assembly constituencies that went for by-elections.

NDA in pole position in Assam, ahead on all 5 seats: 

As per initial trends, the BJP-led NDA has taken pole position in Assam. The saffron alliance has taken lead on all 5 assembly seats that went to by-polls on October 30.

The five Assembly constituencies that went to polls included Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra. A good turnout of around 65-70% was recorded in all constituencies.

BJP had contested on 3 seats while left 2 seats for its alliance partner United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).

BJP ahead in Madhya Pradesh

Initial trends showed BJP surging ahead in Khandwa Lok Sabha constituency & 3 assembly constituencies of Madhya Pradesh.

TMC in celebratory mode, ahead on all 4 seats

In West Bengal, Didi continues to hold sway over the electorate as TMC candidates are leading the rivals by a huge margin in all 3 assembly constituencies – namely Gosaba, Khardaha, Santipur.

Cong ahead in Rajasthan, Himachal

In Rajasthan, Gehlot government has managed to retain its flock together and also its charisma as the party candidates are headed for win in Dhariawad and Vallabhnagar assembly constituencies.

In Himachal, early trends show setback for BJP. Congress candidates are ahed in Mandi parliamentary seat and in Arki assembly constituency. However, in Fatehpur constituency, BJP candidate was leading.

RJD-JD(U) battle it out in Bihar

In Bihar, the elections were necessitated due to death of two sitting MLAs from the ruling party. And, this by-poll result could tilt in favour of RJD as its candidate has taken lead in 1 of 2 assembly constituency. Lalu factor seems to have done the magic for RJD.
