New Delhi: #CongressToolkitExposed – the trending hashtag on Twitter has set off big political fireworks, with BJP lambasting Congress for alleged attempt at defaming India while the latter taking umbrage at unsubstantiated charges.

BJP claimed that it was in possession of ‘incriminating documents’ allegedly prepared by Congress for taking advantage of Covid crisis and trying to defame India. While Congress has called it a ‘BJP propaganda’.

Shocking details of toolkit revealed here

Hitting out at Congress party, BJP claimed that it wanted to tarnish the image of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by calling the new strain of the coronavirus the “India strain” or the “Modi strain”.
Congress has instructed its social media volunteers to call the new mutant strain of COVID-19 the “Modi strain” or the “India strain”, Patra claimed in a tweet.

Citing the toolkit, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra said according to the document, it is clear that the Congress extending help to the needy during the pandemic is “more of a public relations exercise with the help of friendly journalists and influencers than a soulful endeavour”.

The viral toolkit, which has the Congress symbol on the top right corner, also purportedly asks party workers to use “dramatic pictures of the funerals and dead bodies” while saying that “PM Modi’s approval ratings have been high and have not dipped despite the crisis and mismanagement”, a leading daily said.

‘Call Kumbh ‘super spreader’ but don’t comment on Eid’

“Congress toolkit” has also suggested calling the Kumbh Mela the “Super Spreader Kumbh”.

In the document shared on social media, it says, “It is important to keep using this term ‘super spreader Kumbh’ to keep reminding the people that it is the Hindu politics of the BJP that is causing so much distress. Avoid getting in the trap of Eid and Kumbh false equivalence narrative that BJP will deploy as a counter. Don’t comment on Eid greetings.”

Congress denies toolkit charge, calls it ‘BJP propaganda’

Rajiv Gowda, who heads the Congress’s research department, immediately hit back and accused the BJP of propagating a fake “toolkit” on Covid-19 mismanagement and attributing it to his party. In a tweet, Gowda said, they will file a First Information Report over forgery against BJP chief JP Nadda and Patra. “When our country is devastated by Covid, instead of providing relief, BJP shamelessly concocts forgeries.”
