Caught on Cam: Karnataka MLA seen inciting students to beat warden over rotten food

The SC/ST hostel comprising of law & B.Ed. students has been in news for quite sometime. The hostel residents have been agitating since August 1 and demanding government’s intervention.

New Delhi: While newly elected Congress government in Karnataka tries hard to fulfill its 5 guarantees to people, an arrogant MLA of the ruling party was caught on camera instigating students to act violently against a hostel warden.

KC Veerendra, the MLA from Chitradurga incited the students who were protesting over stale & rotten food, being served in hostels. The Congress MLA went to meet the students, agitating over rotten food.

He asked the students to beat the warden and ‘teach him a lesson’ and then things will be alright.

“If this happens again, lock up the warden in the room and beat him up if he feeds you rotten vegetables. Don’t worry I’m there, this is too much. Take all the worms from the rotten vegetables and feed him the same. Then beat him up, all this will be rectified after that. This is not right,” the Karnataka MLA said.

The irresponsible remarks by the legislator drew condemnation from the Opposition as well as social media. Some said that inspite of showing sensitivity to the subject, the legislator tried to arouse students for violence..

Why students were enraged?

The SC/ST hostel comprising of law & B.Ed. students has been in news for quite sometime. The hostel residents have been agitating since August 1 and demanding government’s intervention.

A group of students, living over sub-standard food provided in the hostel, said that they will intensify the protests if state administration doesn’t pay heed and do the needful. A couple of them claimed that they were being served rotten & stinking food and they escalated the matter to hostel warden but to no avail.

They claimed that they could see worms in food materials coming to hostel but no one was paying heed to their complaints.
