Chandrayaan-3 Updates: “Chandrayaan-3 Orbit circularisation phase commences…” confirms ISRO

After the propulsion module separates from the lander in orbit, the lander will begin its descent to the surface and try a soft landing.

New Delhi: The lunar orbital maneuvre for Chandrayaan-3 is already slated for Monday between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm IST, as previously announced by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Recently, ISRO announced the moment’s arrival and shared a Twitter post, saying “Chandrayaan-3 Mission:

Orbit circularisation phase commences

Precise maneuvre performed today has achieved a near-circular orbit of 150 km x  177 km

The next operation is planned for August 16, 2023, around 0830 Hrs. IST.”

An exact landing site close to the south pole of the Moon will be selected after all essential manoeuvres have been carried out. After the propulsion module separates from the lander in orbit, the lander will begin its descent to the surface and try a soft landing.

On July 14, 2023, Chandrayaan-3 launched out from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Center on its way to a flawless soft landing on the Moon.

A gentle landing requires a series of complex and well-prepared processes. There are three parts to these manoeuvres: pre-lunar, lunar, and trans-lunar phases. The goal was to have the lander detach from the propulsion module and reach a closer orbit around the moon before beginning the soft-landing operation. Now is the time for the climactic conclusion.

The spacecraft will touch down close to the Moon’s south pole, an under-explored region with promising possibilities for new discoveries.

Recently, ISRO provided some information regarding Aditya-L1 in a tweet, as the organisation is getting ready for the next research into the sun.
