Close shave for DK Shivakumar, his chopper suffers bird-hit; windshield breaks

Earlier in the day, Karnataka Cong unit chief attended an event in Bengaluru where the party released its manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections.

New Delhi: It was a narrow escape for Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar as his chopper suffered a bird-hit and was forced to make emergency landing at Bengaluru’s HAL airport on Tuesday.

The windshield of his helicopter suffered damage due to bird strike, however the Congress leader escaped any injuries.

The incident reportedly took place when D Shivakumar was heading towards Mulbagal from Bengaluru, for addressing a public gathering. A collision happened between the chopper and an eagle in mid-air, about 40 kms from the HAL airport.

The windshield got broken but the Congress leader escaped unhurt, however, one of his companion/associates suffered minor injuries.

The mishap happened after he left Bengaluru for addressing poll rallies.

In its manifesto, the Congress party promised 5 guarantees under which several freebies have been announced. From free electricity to free tickets for women in state transport and financial assistance for farmers & unemployed youths, the grand old party has taken recourse in populist than progressive measures.

It’s pledge to put severe restrictions/ban on people & organizations including Bajrang Dal for ‘spreading hatred’ among communities has triggered major controversy.

BJP took strong objection to ‘slanted & lopsided’ priorities of Congress party and slammed it for its attempt to influence to polls on basis of religion.

Assam CM Himanta Sarma said that Congress was turning into Muslim League. Elections in Karnataka will be take place on May 13 and counting will be held on May 13.
