CM Rupani lays foundation of solar powered sewage treatment plant in 16 municipalities

CM Rupani performed ground breaking ceremony of STP worth Rs. 103.26 crore in Surendranagar, Valsad and Godhra through video conferencing from Gandhinagar and also performed the ground breaking ceremony of various development works of 16 municipalities.

New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Tuesday digitally performed the ground breaking ceremony to 28 sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants in 16 municipalities of the state. Role model of development- Gujarat has great expectations of modern developed and well-planned town development.

In this regard, he said that the work of roads, sewage, lights and water in the towns should be all well planned. The government has also made planned efforts to make small as well big cities and towns to be equipped fully with facilities in a timely manner.

CM Rupani performed ground breaking ceremony of STP worth Rs. 103.26 crore in Surendranagar, Valsad and Godhra through video conferencing from Gandhinagar and also performed the ground breaking ceremony of various development works of 18 municipalities. He also laid the foundation stone of underground sewerage project of Rs. 17.77 crores in Rajpipla.

The Chief Minister congratulated the Gujarat Urban Development Corporation for this innovative initiative.

Rupani said that all the towns of the state should be equipped with STP-WTP and the citizens should get pure drinking water in the form of tap water. In addition, the town authorities are moving towards reusing the used wastewater as reuse of treated water in agriculture, gardens, filling of ponds.

The CM elaborated on the new historic solar policy issued by the state government. He called upon the municipalities of the state to generate solar energy on their properties and raise a source of income by selling the surplus electricity after their own consumption.

The Chief Minister said that in the past, during the Congress rule, there was no planning for development works in towns, basic infrastructure works like water, drainage works. People did not have access to clean water and lack of drainage in the towns.

He made it clear that since the then Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi took the charge of the state, priority was given to basic necessities like drainage, filter water, tap water. Now we are taking special care to reduce the electricity bill cost and make the municipalities self-sufficient, along with boosting green energy from solar energy production in the towns, added CM.

Rupani inaugurates projects -

This Government has shown great success laying foundation stone of works of 136 crores in one day digitally.

He also said that we want to be at the forefront in the nation with a riot-free Gujarat, open defecation-free Gujarat, disease-free Gujarat and now Covid-free Gujarat.

Gujarat would show new path of development to the nation by setting up municipalities as a source of income from solar power based power generation in the cities of Gujarat.
