CM Yogi’s Diwali gift for cops: Rs 500 motorcycle allowance, e-pension portal launched

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced an increase in Rs 200 cycle allowance to the police personnel till now by providing Rs 500 motorcycle allowance.

Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, lauded the contribution of valorous policemen in maintaining the Rule of Law in the state, saying, “It is the result of UP’s zero tolerance against crime and criminals and the contribution of brave policemen that no criminal is free in the state today, they are either in prison or have been killed.”

Saluting the courage, valour and dedication of brave police personnel, Yogi Adityanath said, “Maintenance of Rule of Law in the state is ensuring peaceful celebration of every festival and safer environment for women, weaker sections, traders and the common man.”

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced an increase in Rs 200 cycle allowance to the police personnel till now by providing Rs 500 motorcycle allowance. He also dedicated the facility of the e-pension portal to the policemen.

The Chief Minister, who was present among the police personnel just before Diwali, also announced the approval of reimbursement of medical expenses of more than Rs 5,00,000 from the level of Director General of Police for the convenience of the policemen.

“Till now, this was being addressed at the government level, which caused an unnecessary delay, now no delays will take place,” said the CM.

During the event organized at Reserve Police Line, Lucknow, Yogi said that taking great inspiration from the ‘Gita’, our brave soldiers have made their supreme sacrifice to maintain the external and internal security of the country and the state.

In 2021-22, seven brave policemen of Uttar Pradesh were martyred. Saluting the martyrs, the Chief Minister assured the dependents of the martyred policemen that the government would extend all possible help to them with utmost sensitivity.

The CM further said that the police force has continued to serve with dedication even in adverse circumstances. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the state police force had presented a perfect example of ‘humanity’.

During this, 45 policemen also succumbed to the virus, whose families were given jobs and Rs 22.50 crores as per rules. Moreover, assistance amounting to Rs 141.9 crore was given to the dependents of 581 martyrs of Uttar Pradesh origin serving in Central Para Military Forces, Indian Army, among others.

166 dreaded criminals killed

Lauding the efforts of the police for improving law and order in Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister said that while taking strict action against the criminals, assets worth Rs 44. 59 billion have been confiscated or destroyed so far.

Schools for daughters and houses for the poor are being constructed on such properties.

The CM said that from 30th March 2017 to 13th October 2022, about 166 dreaded criminals were killed and 4453 were injured across the state. Action under the Gangster act was taken on 58,648 and action was taken under NSA on 807.

The property of 50 dreaded mafias and their accomplices worth about Rs 2268 crore was confiscated or demolished. In this, 01 mafia and 08 of his accomplices were also killed in an encounter.

While 39 were sentenced to life imprisonment through effective prosecution, 02 were sentenced to death. In the same period, 13 of our jawans were also martyred.

In the period from 1st September 2021 to 31st August 2022, 264 policemen in the country laid down their lives.

These included seven policemen of Uttar Pradesh, sub-inspector Virendra Nath Mishra, sub-inspector Kadir Khan, chief constable Munil Kumar Choubey, constable Sarvesh Kumar, constable Sumit Kumar, constable Lalit Kumar and constable Manish Kumar.

The Chief Minister said that the entire police force of the state is proud of the valour of these heroes who sacrificed their lives while giving their services.

“By setting a unique example of patriotism, and sacrifice, these brave policemen will always inspire our future generation to follow the path of duty with fearlessness.

Their sacrifice is a testament to their true dedication and devotion, commitment to duty and public service,” said the CM.
