Colour coding: Rupani govt chalks out ‘masterplan’ to counter 3rd wave of Covid-19

By using Color-coding method, the state government would only be able to trace the cases at the earliest but also be able to control the activity rate and provide assistance within defined time limit.

New Delhi: Amid the imminent possibility of 3rd wave of Covid-19 hitting the nation in coming weeks, Gujrat government is bracing up for tackling the pandemic by upping its defences. Gujarat govt has developed ‘Color-coding’ model to contain the virus spread.

By using Color-coding method, the state government would only be able to trace the cases at the earliest but also be able to control the activity rate and provide assistance within defined time limit. Under PM Modi’s guidance, Gujrat government has come up with this innovative plan to defeat the pandemic.

This colour coding method has been classified into 3 different levels – ’Indicators’ in which several parameters has been set for weekly testing. Here, test positivity rate (TPR) of more than 10 percent will be considered as red zone. Bed occupancy will be prime criteria in red zones. Beds are to be provided immediately in this category. Similarly, different parameters have been set for oxygen and ICU beds.

Covid, Coronavirus

In third wave of Covid, Rupani Government has set its priority to ensure a declining TPR in the state. This includes, control over public gatherings, educational institutions, tourism activities, hotels and restaurants, offices, markets, public transportation and air services. These are also classified into 4 levels where, level four will be considered as red zone, in which case all the given activities will be suspended, only emergency services, medical services and take-away food services will be available. Whereas, tourism and gatherings will be suspended even under level 3 in the state.

The response system is also coded separately for different levels, it includes the spread of the virus, its tracing and infrastructure. Here, 5th level will be the red zone. In the 5th level, people will be asked to stay indoors and strict Covid guidelines will be implemented. 75,000 tests on a daily basis will be held daily in the first level and 2 lacks will be conducted under red zone. Private hospitals, Covid care centres, dedicated Covid care centres etc, will be a part of the basic infrastructure.
