Covid-19 cases will rise for next 10-12 days & then start declining: Report

Health Ministry also conducted nation-wide mock drills in all hospitals of the country on Monday & Tuesday, to check their readiness & preparedness to take on the illness in case of a sudden outbreak.

New Delhi: Amid the Coronavirus rearing its ugly head again & prompting the authorities to press the panic button, here is a positive report that will alleviate concerns of many.

Coronavirus cases are expected to register jump in the cases for next 10-12 days and then will witness a gradual decline, news agency PTI reported citing government sources. It also stated the rising Corona cases were mainly because of XBB.1.16 variant, which is a sub-variant of Omicron.

Another news agency ANI reported quoting officials that the Covid-19 was heading towards an endemic stage.

“COVID-19 in India is moving towards the endemic stage. COVID will rise for the next 10 days but cases will start reducing. Even though cases are increasing, hospitalisation is low”, ANI reported quoting official sources.

Endemic stage means that the severity & impact of disease takes a beating. It will see more of localized cases and there won’t be sudden surge in new patients

For now, the rise in Coronavirus cases is being witnessed pan India. Delhi recorded 900 cases in past 24 hours while the jump in cases in South India is also huge.

Government has asked the people to not lower their guard and stick to the standard safety mechanism by wearing masks & avoiding crowded areas.

Meanwhile, India recorded its steepest hike in daily Corona cases on Wednesday. More than 7,800 corona cases were reported on Wednesday, biggest single-day rise in over 6 months.

Though, casualty has been less because of Coronavirus but at least 16 fatalities have been reported from various parts of the country, including 2 each in Delhi, Himachal & Punjab and 1 each in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu.
