COVID-19: CM Mamata issues new guidelines for West Bengal, negative RT-PCR required to enter the state

Private sector to work with 50% capacity and work from home should be encouraged. Jewellery shops to remain open only for 3 hours – 12 PM to 3 PM.

New Delhi: TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee took the oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal for her third consecutive term. CM Mamata has started taking immediate action to stop the spread of COVID-19 virus in the state as she issued new guidelines hours after taking the oath.

CM Mamata announced that the masks are mandatory in the state, while the state government offices will work with only 50% of the staff attendance. Malls, shopping complexes, gyms, cinema halls and beauty parlors will remain closed. All social or political gatherings are also prohibited.

Further all the markets, retailers and standalone shops will function from 7 AM to 10 AM in the morning and then from 5 PM to 7 PM in the evening. State transport and metros to run with 50% capacity while the movement of local trains has been suspended from Thursday.

From Friday, a RT-PCR test negative report not older than 72 hours is required to arrive at the State’s Airports. The ones who test positive will be sent to a 14-day quarantine with the co-ordination of Airport and State authorities.

Random testing will be done in inter-state buses and a RT-PCR negative report not older than 72 hours is mandatory for the passengers. The same is applicable to the people entering the state through inter-state train services.
