New Delhi: Continuing the positive recovery trend, Uttar Pradesh under the effective leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the fifth consecutive day recorded more daily recoveries than the number of fresh cases — in the same span of time. The state recorded a total of 25,858 new cases in the last 24 hours, whereas, the number of recoveries was 38,683, which is almost 13 thousand more than the fresh covid cases.

Intensifying preventive measures to control the spread of Covid-19 as per the target of ‘test, trace and treat’, Uttar Pradesh, conducted a total of 2,08,558 tests in the last 24 hours.

Despite being the most populous state in the country, Uttar Pradesh has outperformed several other states including Delhi, Maharashtra and Rajasthan by conducting a total of 2,08,558 tests in a single day, out of which more than 1,18,000 tests were conducted through the RT-PCR method. The state has successfully conducted over 4.18 crore Covid tests so far, which is a national record.

Earlier on May 2, Uttar Pradesh had set a record by conducting 2,97,021 COVID tests in a single day itself.

A vigorous regime of ‘trace, test, treat’ by the Yogi government has shown remarkable results in controlling the spread and mortality of the novel coronavirus, without putting a statewide lockdown in place.
