New Delhi: Coronavirus is rearing its ugly head again, at least, the soaring numbers suggest so. The nation recorded its highest number of fresh Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours. At 3,016 cases in 24 hours, this is highest single-day hike since September 2022.

The last such spike in Covid-19 cases was recorded in October 2022. On October 2, a total of 3,375 cases were recorded.

The surge in Covid-19 also means increase in positivity rate, a parameter which indicates the speed of virus spread. According to official numbers from Union Health Ministry, there are a total of over 13,000 active cases in the country, till Thursday.

Corona review meetings by Health departments has already begun and officials are contemplating about bringing Covid restrictions in place.
