New Delhi: In yet setback for Congress & boost for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the run-up to 2024 elections, CR Kesaven joined the saffron party today.
Kesavan is a senior Congress leader and also the great-grandson of India’s first Governor-General C Rajagopalachari.

Kesavan joined the BJP in presence of Union Minister General VK Singh and BJP national chief spokesperson Anil Baluni.
In his first remarks after joning the saffron party, Kesavan showered praised on PM Modi’s leadership and expressed happiness over him becoming part of world’s largest political party.
“I want to thank you for inducting me into the world’s largest political party-BJP, especially on a day when our PM is in Tamil Nadu,” said Kesavan.

Giving a blow to the grand old party, Kesavan had quit all party posts and also resigned from primary membership of the party in February 2023.
In a letter addressed to Congress President Malliakarjun Kharge, he wrote that he was not witnessing any “vestige of the value” made would his work for the party for over two decades.
Later speaking to news persons, he had said, “I have been a member of the Congress party for last 22 years, but unfortunately, over a period of time, I feel in Congress, the attitude and approach were neither constructive nor concrete. The values which I worked for changed,” he said.
