Dalit woman faces police brutality in Bihar’s Sitamarhi, BJP calls it jungle raj (VIDEO)

New Delhi: The state of Bihar always manages to find its way into the headline, as it is famous for its violent past, and despite the place having no actual resemblance from its in the modern day era, time-to-time few incidents start to surface, fanning the sparks of stereotype once again.

In a recent incident, a video of a Dalit woman getting beaten up by a police official is making its rounds on the internet, as the disturbing video is creating a sense of anger amongst the common people towards the police.

According to the reports, the incident is from Sitamarhi, Bihar, and it reportedly took place on Saturday, December 30.

The incident was caught on camera

The woman can be seen getting hit repeatedly by a police official with a stick in the video, which is now going viral on the internet.

The woman can be seen taking steps back to defend herself, but the police official, who was later identified as Raj Kishore Singh, kept hitting her multiple times.

Unfortunately, with so many bystanders watching the whole incident go down in person, none of them even tried to step in and stop the assault.

However, after the video went viral, Sitamarhi’s SP, Manoj Kumar Tiwari, gave his take on the incident by saying the matter would be investigated, and if found guilty, the officer involved would be punished according to the law.

Opposition hits out

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala hits out at the ruling government and their newly formed alliance with the Congress party by saying that the government of Bihar has a soft corner for the criminals, as it is always the common people who get punished, sometimes for things they didn’t even do.

He also calls out the incident as a part of the jungle raj rule of the ruling party.

Poonawala also posted a video addressing the incident on his social media page of X (Formerly known as Twitter).

Official explanation

After the incident got into headlines, the Sitamarhi police also came up with their clarification over the incident, calling the action justified as it was only done to separate the two parties getting entangled in a fight over their private matter.
