New Delhi: The seven-day ‘Pran Pratistha’ ceremony of Lord Ram began on Tuesday and will culminate with the installation of Ram Lalla idol in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple complex on January 22.
The week-long customs & rituals of the consecration ceremony are being performed in the temple while devotees & Ram bhakts across the country celebrate the ‘homecoming’ of Lord Ram after forced exile of over 500 years.
On Day 2 of Pran Pratistha ceremony, the idol of Lord Ram Lalla will taken for a tour of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple premises. Scholar Acharya Shri Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid informed that it will be done after 1:20 PM.
Apart from touring the temple, a slew of pujas are scheduled which include Teertha Puja, Vardhini Puja & more.
Taking to X, Shri Ram Janma bhoomi Teerth Kshetra informed, “On Wednesday, January 17, after 1:20 pm, there will be Jalayatra, Teertha Puja, Brahmin-Batuk-Kumari-Suvasini Puja, Vardhini Puja, Kalshayatra and a tour of the idol of Lord Shri Ram Lalla in the Prasad premises.”
What happened on Day 1
The Day 1 of Pran Pratistha began with ‘Panchgavyaprashan’ at the Ram temple. The chief ‘yajman’ Anil Mishra took a bath in Sararyu river and performed all the rituals. He worshipped Lord Vishnu and then performed ‘Panchgavyaprashan’ at Ram Temple with ‘Panchgavya’ (made of cow’s milk, curd, ghee, urine & dung).
‘Godan’ (cow donation) was also done to atone for ‘Dwadshabd Paksha’.

What rituals are scheduled in next 5 days
January 18: Rituals of Teerth Poojan, Jal Yatra, and Gandhadhivas will be held. Reports suggest that Ram Lalla will be brought inside the temple premises on this day.
January 19: Aushadhadhivas, Kesaradhivas, Ghritadhivas will be done in first half while Dhanyadhivas will take place in evening.
January 20: Sharkaradhivas and Phaladhivas rituals will take place while towards later half, Pushpadhivas ritual will be performed
January 21: Madhyadhivas ritual will be done in morning while Shaiyadhivas is slated for evening.
The Ram temple consecration ceremony will be held on January 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the grand event where thousands of people, including celebrities, saints, and politicians have been invited.
The temple will be open for public visit from January 23, a day after its inauguration on January 22.
