Delhi COVID-19 Curfew: Essential services, food services, medical services will continue; Check what’s allowed and what’s not

On Sunday, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) had asked Lt. Governor Anil Baijal and CM Arvind Kejriwal to impose a 15-day lockdown in the city.

New Delhi:To tackle the surge in COVID-19 cases, a six-day complete ‘corona lockdown’ has been imposed in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday.

The lockdown will be in place from 10 pm today till 5 am on April 26, the Chief Minister added. The restrictions have been announced after a meeting between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today.

According to sources, all private offices will work from home and only government offices and essential services will be open.

What’s allowed

Media exempted on production of valid ID card. No restriction on inter-state & intra-state movement/transportation of essential goods. No separate permission/e-pass required for such movements.

Essential services, food services, medical services will continue.

Weddings can be held with a gathering of only 50 people, passes will be issued separately for it.

Pvt medical personnel exempted on production of valid ID.

Pregnant women/patients going for medical aid along with attendant,exempted on production of valid ID/doctor’s prescription/medical papers.

Those going for testing/vaccination exempted on production of valid ID

Persons coming from/going to Airports/Railway stations/ISBTs allowed to travel on production of valid ticket.

Officials in the officers of diplomats of various countries as well as persons holding any constitutional post exempted on the production of valid ID

Offices of GNCT of Delhi/Autonomous Bodies/Corporations shall remain closed except those involved in essential and emergency services such as Health and Family Welfare and all related medical establishments, Police, Prisons, Home Guards, Civil Defence, Fire and emergency Services, District Administration, Pay & Account Office, Services, GAD, Electricity, Water and Sanitation, Public Transport (Air / Railways / Delhi Metro / Buses) including all incidental services / activities that are essential for smooth functioning of all modes of public transport ( such as handling of cargo, ticketing, air freight station, CFS, lCD etc.), Disaster Management and related services, NIC, NCC and Municipal services, and all other essential services.

All Heads of Department of GNCTD shall attend their offices and may also call their relevant officers/officials in office as per requirement with regard to delivery of essential services / activities as well as COVI❑-19 related works. The uninterrupted delivery of public services shall be ensured by the concerned departments / agencies. These officers / officials shall be allowed, on production of valid I card.

What’s not allowed

Religious places shall be permitted to open, but no visitors allowed

The Delhi government had last week announced a weekend curfew in the national capital from 10 pm on April 16 till 6 am on April 19, and the closure of malls, gymnasiums and auditoriums till April 30 amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.
