AAP govt’s ‘Deshbhakti Buget’ and free Covid vaccination for Delhiites

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government on Tuesday presented Rs 69,000 budget laced with patriotism and announced free Covid-19 vaccination for the city residents at all government facilities.

Free Covid vaccination would be applicable from next phase of inoculation drive and the AAP govt has made an allocation of Rs 50 crore in the Delhi Budget for the scheme.

“Covid-19 vaccines will be available free of cost for people of Delhi in government hospitals in the UT, we have allotted Rs 50 crore budget for the same. Soon, per day vaccination will be increased to 60,000 from 45,000,” Manish Sisodia said.

‘Aim to make per capita equivalent to Singapore by 2047’

Presenting the budget for the seventh consecutive time in the Assembly, Sisodia proposed to allocate Rs 16,377 crore, one-fourth of the total budget, for the education sector while the health sector got Rs 9,934 crore.

“We are aiming towards making Delhi’s per capita income equivalent to Singapore’s per capita income by 2047. A growth of 16 per cent in the income would be required to successfully achieve this goal. It will be difficult but we will work towards making it a success,” Sisodia said during his budget address.

‘DeshBhakti’ Budget, Rs 45 crore for 500 flag masts in Delhi

While presenting the budget, Sisodia said, “Today, I present this ‘Deshbhakti Budget’ in view of the Centre’s celebrations of India’s 75 years of Independence with 75 weeks as ‘Deshbhakti Mahotsav’ starting on March 12.”

Sisodia said AAP government will celebrate the country’s 75th Independence Day and organise programmes for 75 weeks starting March 12. A sum of Rs 45 crore was allocated to install high masts to hoist national flag at 500 places in the national capital.

“We have allocated Rs 45 crore for 500 flag masts across Delhi. They will be similar to the one we have at the Central Park in Connaught Place. So even if someone covers a distance of two kms from his home, he will get to see the tricolour in all its glory and feel patriotic,” Sisodia said.
