New Delhi: A day after the Kejriwal government reserved all state-run hospitals for city residents, an advocate and social activist has sent a legal notice to the AAP government and demanded withdrawal of ‘draconian order’ which bars admission of non-Delhi residents in city hospitals.

The activist, Gaurav Kumar Bansal, in his legal notice, said that instead of serving the poor patients lying on the road, Health and Family Department has issued a “politically motivated order” which is meant to serve the “ill motives” of “Echelons of Power” running the government.

“For want cheap publicity and to remain in power, Delhi govt has adopted “pick and choose policy”, claimed the notice.

Delhi govt’s order to reserve hospitals for city residents

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced that all state-run hospitals and some private hospitals will be reserved for city residents, from Monday onwards.

The order would not apply for treatments relating to oncology, neuro-surgery and transplantation.

Currently, 13 hospitals are private, while five are run by the Delhi government, and only four are under the Centre.

With over 27,000 cases and more than 700 deaths, Delhi is the third worst-hit state in the country after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. It has been reporting over a thousand cases daily for the past few days.
