New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday arrested a Dwara-based resident Abhinav Prakash, 24, for making hoax call to SpiceJet Airline. The accused, a trainee ticketing agent of British Airways, made a call to the SpiceJet call centre at IGI airport and dropped a fake information about bomb on flight, thereby leading to chaos in the plane & among airline officials.
The hoax call was reportedly made at the SpiceJet reservation centre, for the Delhi-Pune flight SG 8938. The bomb threat call sent the security officials into action mode. The plane was shifted to isolation and thoroughly checked. The hoax call came before the passengers started boarding the plane, an airline official informed.
Caller reveals ‘malicious’ plot to cops
The accused told the Delhi Police that he made a fake call with an intention to delay or cancel the flight as he wanted to buy time for his friends, whose reported girlfriends were flying via this flight.
Delhi Police in statement said, “the accused disclosed that his childhood friends namely Rakesh @ Bunty and Kunal Sehrawat, who recently went on a road trip to Manali, became friends with two girls in Manali. Both the girls were departing today to Pune via flight No. SG-8938 of Spicejet Airlines. His friends told him that they wanted to spend some more time with their girlfriends and then asked the accused to find out a plan to somehow delay their departure from Delhi.”
As the accused wanted to prove his bravado before his friends, he called up the SpiceJet customer care and dropped false information of ‘bomb on flight’.
“All three formulated a malicious plan of making a hoax bomb call at the call center of Spicejet Airlines, with an ulterior motive of getting the flight canceled,” police statement said.
The police further informed that Prakash’s friends are also under their scanner and will be nabbed soon. When they got to know about Prashant’s arrest, his friends Kunal &Rakesh fled from their houses.
