New Delhi: Amid mounting allegations of bias in Delhi riots probe, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava on Monday dismissed all the charges as baseless and unsubstantiated.
Rebutting all the allegations, Mr Shirvastava said the investigation in North-East Delhi riots by Delhi Police was neither partisan nor politically motivated.
Delhi Police chief made these remarks at an online seminar organized by Delhi Police Gazetted Officer Association. The seminar was organised under the aegis of Vice President, Delhi Police Gazetted Officer Association, Mr. Vijay Malik, under Sh.T R Kakkar IPS the Chief Patron of the Association and was attended by a few lawyers, general representatives of the public, and retired senior officials of Delhi Police.
The distinguished members at seminar discussed about many individuals/groups questioning the investigation into North East Delhi riots by Delhi Police. The complaint of these groups was that in its investigation, Delhi Police was targeting ‘peaceful protesters’ while those who made hate speeches were being spared.
To this, Commissioner of Delhi Police categorically stated that the investigation was conducted with utmost care and free of any dictate of political interest or pressure.
Mr SN Shrivastava put to rest all false accusations and claims made against the Delhi Police in the riots and reasserted that all actions thereof taken by the Delhi Police were in absolute compliance of law.
He also congratulated the Association for conducting such a seminar and reiterated the continued assistance of the association and its members with Delhi Police.
